so He died and gave us His”
—Who He Is, Trip Lee 20/20
Righteousness: the state of being perfect, without sin
how can we make ourselves sinless?
it’s not even possible- there is nothing we can do ourselves to make us pure
our fallen nature is in a fallen body living in a fallen world
no amount of good works can redeem us and bring us closer to the holy throne of God
we can’t just try really, really hard to be good- we are incapable of such a feat
our only hope for salvation and righteousness is by the blood, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
–1 Peter 2:24-25
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
–Galatians 2:21
“What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ- the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.”
–Philippians 3:8-9
